A $10 billion merger required an assessment of two cultures and a way to prepare leaders to integrate the companies to achieve success. The parent company had rigorous management systems, processes, and structures that allowed them to deliver high-quality work products. The acquired company had a speedy entrepreneurial approach that was unencumbered by heavy processes and standard procedures. For the new, integrated company to be successful, executives needed to harness the synergies of both companies.
Working closely with HR teams from both companies, they assessed each company’s cultural norms and leadership practices, comparing them to the desired future state. The outcome was a custom manager integration guide to support leaders across both company teams. The guide provided insight into cultural differences and clarity on leadership expectations in the new company. Leaders used the guide to navigate through a self-assessment, tools, and worksheets to prepare for personal, team, and organizational success.
