What Weather Privacy Policy

This Privacy Statement explains how Aspirant collects and processes information through your use of the What Weather app (the "App").  We invite you to read this privacy statement, which describes our privacy settings and security practices. We want you to understand when and how data is handled by us through your use of the App. As processes improve and change, we reserve the right to make changes to this policy from time to time, please check here for the most up-to-date version.

 

Collection of Personal Information

"Personal information" is any information that can be used to identify you or that we can link to you.

 

Information We Collect from You

We collect, process and use personal information when you download and use the App.

The information we collect includes:

  • Your Location

There are two types of pseudonymised Identification codes that are created in order for the App to function. Push notifications are provided through Firebase.

  • A Consumer entity is created in the database. It records the device type (iOS/Android).
  • A PNS ID for the device push notifications is generated for push notifications to be sent. This ID cannot be used to lookup information about the user who has the ID.

 

How We Use the Information We Collect

We use your location to enable the app to provide more accurate weather forecasting relevant to the area you are in.  

 

How we share the information we collect

The location of the device is shared with openweathermap.org to provide the weather for the device’s location.

 

Legal Bases for Using Your Personal Information

There are different legal bases that we rely on to use your personal information provided via the App, namely:

  • Performance of a contract – The use of your personal information may be necessary to allow you to download and use the App including to allow us to email your journal entries to you. 
  • Legitimate interests – We may use your personal information for our legitimate interests. When we process personal information to meet our legitimate interests, we put in place robust safeguards to ensure that your privacy is protected and to ensure that our legitimate interests are not overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.

Your Choices and Your Rights

You have certain rights regarding your personal information.  Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request that we to complete the information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

 

If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. We have engaged GDPR Local Ltd. as our Article 27 GDPR Representative and Data Subject Requests are facilitated through their online web portal.
